So did you have the correct answer to
the “C-Notes” question ?
With the help of members from the Thursday night
couples’ Bible study Pastor Evan presented 4
critical C-Note principles during the month of July.
If you
HAD TO miss a week, you can still listen to all the messages
on the sermons page.
“And
just what is the C-Note Challenge?” you ask.
Well, if you were not in
the service Sunday, July 27, you really should listen
to the sermon recordings to hear the whole story.
We are challenging 50 individuals, such as YOU (or your small
group, your family, or just a group of friends) to take $100 for the
month—
not to own it, but to steward it. A steward manages the resources that
belong to someone else according to the desires of the
owner.
So the C-Note Challenge is for you to take a $100 dollar bill, to put
it to good use for the month, to multiply it,
and to bring back the proceeds at the end of August... Just like in the
parable of the talents (see Matthew 25:14-30).
On the last Sunday in July, Pastor Evan preached on
“stewardship” and challenged us to take $100 and
put it to work for the month using our creativity, our hard
work, our gifts, and our talents. (If you missed the sermon you can
still hear it at the
sermon page.
And if you want ideas about how you might use your
C-Note take a look at the hilarious video that was shown on that Sunday.
On the last Sunday of August everyone will be bringing back the result
of their C-Note stewardship for the month. Hopefully it will be a lot
more than the $100 they started with. We will be sending all the
proceeds to Project Nueva Experanza
(Project New Hope) for our new
church in Trujillo to help them buy milk cows for their dairy. Next
time you’re
at church, pick up a brochure that describes how these milk cows are
providing jobs and incomes for many under resourced people in Peru.
It’s amazing!
C-Notes Companion
Our
Thursday Night Bible Study Group has compiled a list of resources that
will help you learn more about handling your finances. Most of these
authors present teaching according to biblical principles. While we do
not necessarily agree with everything you will find in them, we believe
on the whole that these books and websites do a good job of presenting
God’s truths in these matters. Click
Here to see their list.

Summer Mission Trips
This summer we sent off nearly a dozen of our members to
mission adventures on the field. We sent a team in Trujillo, Peru,
and another team traveled to Bohol and Cebu in the Philippines.
Dennis Riley, our mission's committee chairman, lead
our Peru team, along with 11 members from the El Centro First Christian
Church, for a trip to support
Project New Hope in Peru from June 25 - July 5.
While there they helped build a playground, taught classes, worked with
the elderly and also held a retreat at a local family fun center.
And our Rivera family went to the Phillipines to help
Marydel Glass with work at Restored
Heritage.
Summer Youth Outreach
The Pomerado Youth Outreach team is organizing special
outreach evenings for youth throughout the summer. They will take place
on Thursday evenings. The goal is to
encourage the kids to study the Bible, to enjoy one another and to plan
activities that will attract their non Christian friends. The Thursday
evenings during the rest of the summer will be specifically for the
youth to invite friends who do not attend church. There will be games,
a variety of activities, food and Bible discussion.

The Breakfast Club Comes to an
End Funded through August
It was with great excitement that we received the
word from Abraxas High School (just as school was ending) that the
S.A.F.E. Center would be funded until the middle of September. That is
approximately 8 weeks. Classes will begin the week of July 21st and we
will be there with a load of groceries! Needless to say, we are
encouraged and pray that the needed support comes through to keep this
center open on in to the next school year and beyond.
If you would like to contribute to the Abraxas
Breakfast Club during the summer while your Bible study is not meeting,
you can make the donation through the church offering, designating it
to the Breakfast Club, or put it into my mail box in the church office.
Thanks for the support and the prayers on behalf of the kids at Abraxas!
