“April Apologetics”
Join us Sunday mornings during the month of April as Pastor Evan will be
bringing messages that will look at the answers to
some of the tough questions you probably hear
from time to time from friends, neighbors or
coworkers. If you would want him to consider a
tough question that you’ve heard lately, be sure to
email it to him right away at evan@pomerado.com
Pastor Evan has recommended this list of excellent book references
(compiled by Bill Eckert, one of our newest members, thanks Bill) from a wide variety of authors, covering many questions, issues, and
topics in Apologetics. Click Here for the complete list.

We are sending a box to Marydel Glass on May 20th. It should arrive the same time our team gets there June 25th.
We will be collecting items till about May 18 SO HURRY. Please place items in the big box located by the missions board. Please call Laura Rivera for any questions.
Summer Mission Trips
This summer we will be sending off nearly a dozen of our members to mission adventures on
the field. We will have a team going to Trujillo, Peru, and another team traveling to Bohol
and Cebu in the Philippines.
Dennis Riley, our mission's committee chairman, will again be leading our team, along with 11 members from the El Centro First Christian Church, for a trip to support Project New Hope in Peru from June 25 - July 5. While there they will help build a playground, teach classes, work with the elderly and also hold a youth retreat at a local family fun center. You can help over the next couple weeks by bringing in some of the supplies they will need. More details will be avilable at the church. And don't forget to sign up on the Prayer Chart for a time slot to cover them in prayer for the whole time they are gone.
And our Rivera family will be going to the Phillipines to help Marydel Glass with work at Restored Heritage. Be sure you got your support items turned in before May 18 so they can ship it.
Community Service Workday
On Saturday, May 31st at 8 AM we are planning to give back to our community by doing a service project at the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve in Poway. We will be gathereing a team of able-bodied men, women and kids to hike about a mile into the preserve, and remove some old debris by hand carrying it to a nearby dumpster.
All that’s needed is hats, gloves, sunscreen, protective clothing, and an eagerness to help. We
also want you to sign up so that we know how many people to expect. A team of 10 to 20 people
should have the area cleared of debris before the morning is over.
Please call the church office or send an email to office@pomerado.com and let us know that you
will be joining us for the Community Service Day on Saturday, May 31!
Songs That Changed Your World
Pastor Evan is doing a study on our spiritual heritage of music. If you have a favorite spiritual song or hymn that holds a lot of meaning to you, no matter how contemporary or ancient it may be, he is interested in finding out what that song is, and how it helped to shape your spiritual live. Email your story to evan@pomerado.com

your spouse while connecting

New Studies on Wednesday Evenings for Women
The womens's group which meets at 6:30 at the church will be studying “The Strategy of Satan: How to Detect & Destroy Him” by Warren Wiersbe. The group which meets at 6:30 at Roberta Markey's house will be studying Beth Moore's book based on the Book of Daniel. Call the church office for more details.
Kid’s Praise Co. Performances
Each Wednesday evening 6:30-8 PM kids, kindergarten
through 5th grade have been rehearsing a brand
new musical called “Livin’ Inside Out”.
Based on scripture about how we must live as
Christians, the story of Zach, a star athlete, unfolds. Injured before a big
game, the prideful Zach learns about humility and
sacrifice, and how God’s ways are different from
the world’s ways.
Children will see that Christ, the “Servant
King” who humbly came to earth and sacrificed for
us is the greatest example of living inside out in
an upside down world.
The kids are working hard getting ready for our performances on Saturday evening May 17th at 6:00 PM and
Sunday, May 18th during our Family Service.
What’s Happening on Wednesdays after Kids Praise Co. is over?
Movie Nights! Movie Nights! Movie Nights! Movie Nights!
Bring a friend and come watch a movie that Miss Mary has chosen especially for you!
The Breakfast Club
This February we again signed up as a church to create a special Valentine treat to be delivered to every student
at Abraxas High School on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
Last year Anne Hanson & Jeannie Lombardo organized a group who made personalized packages of cookies for each student. Anne is again in
charge and is hoping to find volunteers to help assemble
the project she has come up with—as well as people who can deliver them to each classroom on the 14th. If you would like to do this contact
Anne at 858-451-3971.
Also, if you are a part of a Bible study group that doesn’t already support the Abraxas Breakfast Club, please consider joining us this year in helping to provide nourishing breakfast foods to the
C.A.R.E. Center on the school campus. For more
information contact Beth Recio in the church office.
