Project New Hope Update, July 7, 2006
Greetings from El Cajon.
TRIPS TO PERU
I'll be leaving for Peru next Wednesday, July 12th, for two weeks.
Ron Birtcher and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Jennings will be traveling
during the same time. They have a FULL agenda meeting with
business people, university leaders, community leaders, and
medical leaders in the city. I will be going to a number of meetings with
them and helping with translation plus getting to know people in Trujillo.
Deborah Ferguson and her daughter Bree will be going down from Idaho.
They will be helping on many projects with other teams. Deborah's main task
will be to do a lot more research on the Woman's Village we want to develop
in Trujillo.
We will have 4 groups there during the same time, including a group from-
- Hope for Kids
- Pomerado Christian
- El Centro 1st Christian
- Chandler Christian
There will be about 100 people working in several different barrios doing
kids program, building community centers, outhouses, water tanks, etc.
2 GROUPS BACK HOME
Our first two groups of the summer were from Parkway Christian in Surprise,
Arizona, and Christ's Church of Fountain Hills, Arizona.
They took hundreds of pictures, but more important than that impacted
the people they were working with. I sent out some of the pictures. More
will be coming in the many weeks ahead.
We are really grateful to these groups. They are helping us make inroads into the barrios.
TEAM MEETINGS IN PERU
I will have an opportunity to meet with our seven Latin families working on the field.
Pato has regular weekly meetings with them and I will have the opportunity to
help clarify the mission ahead of us.
MEET OUR INTERNS
I will also be meeting the interns who are helping us out and get to know them
better. We have 3 from Team Expansion, one from Arizona and a new one
is on his way soon to Peru from California.
MEET WITH PATO
I'm looking forward to having time with Pato as we have a lot to cover in a short amount
of time. We talk regular over the computer, but we have a number of issues which
will be better covered face to face.
BUILDING UP STEAM FOR THE PROJECT
We are seeing inroads impacting a city for Christ.
We have begun using the Scripture in Use plan for church planting.
We are incorporating the plan of Medical Ambassadors to help
us show the people in the barrios how to help themselves and in turn
we will build relationships with them and do yet more teaching of the
Bible.
TOT 1 IN TUCSON, 2007
We are having the seminar in Tucson, Arizona, for Medical Ambassadors
in January. I'm starting to get people signed up. It is limited to 30. Check them
out on the web site address I sent out and look under Che training for more
details. Che Training and Tot 1. This is a must.
WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR TWO MORE BIG SISTER'S. KEEP PRAYING.
We need them before the end of the year.
Keep us in your prayers:
- John (and Carla while I'm gone)
- Ron Birtcher (and Joanne while Ron is gone)
- Mr. and Mrs. Jennings,
- Deborah and Bree (and her two other kids who will be staying at home
)

Pray for...our team,

this outreach project for HIM.
Love in Him,
John and Carla
