WISHING ALL A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

Nangsar, Katherine and I, along with all our coworkers on the field want to wish all of you a Very Special Thanksgiving!

This year we're having nearly forty people over to our house to enjoy an authentic American Thanksgiving dinner. Nangsar was able to track down a real turkey at a local supermarket, so we are going to have mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, sweet yams, pumpkin pie, and the whole bit! (See photos below)

Christian communities in Thailand have been having Thanksgiving services throughout the month of November. Over here there isn't a particular date that is set aside as a Thanksgiving holiday. Communities here choose their thanksgiving day based on when they anticipate bringing in the harvest.

In addition to thanking God for His unending love and goodness toward us, we want to thank all of you (family, friends and supporters) for your great love and support for us. We know that we could not be here doing what we are doing without your prayers and sacrificial support. We will always be grateful for the numerous blessings you have shared with us! May the Lord pour out His blessings upon you as you continue to give of yourselves and of your resources to further the work of God.

Love,

Joni, Nangsar & Family

Our Prayer Priorities for November

1). Please Pray for Us as We Reorganize for Increased Effectiveness

Pray that God will continue to show us His will concerning His work here as we seek to be faithful and productive in all that we do. Pray that we can break new ground even as we experience heartaches and setbacks.

2). Pray for the Teacher/Student Outreach Teams Presently Visiting Remote Villages

With the rainy season now behind us, this is the best time of the year for getting back into the farthest reaches of the hill country. Pray for us as we mobilize to take maximum advantage of this dry season. See the Thanksgiving in the village photos below.

3). Pray That Christians Here Will Continue To Have A Growing Passion for Missions

God's work has been advancing as new churches reach out to other nearby villages. Please pray that the churches here will be able to maintain their fervor.

Nangsar's savory turkey dinner truly hit the spot!

Mochali Village Thanksgiving

Here are some photos of the Thanksgiving service held in the Akha village of Mochali. Between October and November, Thanksgiving celebrations were held in numerous villages across northern Thailand. This is the time when the harvest is brought in and everyone can finally take a brief breather from their work. The desire to give thanks to God and to celebrate His goodness is on the hearts of everyone.

December of course is all about Christmas – remembering the coming Jesus to earth, and giving thanks for all that Christ has done for us. These occasions continue to provide many opportunities for Christians to share their faith with others through words and deeds. This year many communities across Thailand are celebrating Christmas in a big way – turning the season into an opportunity for the world to see Jesus.
