Jesus once said that of all the commmands in the Bible only two are
most important. Love
God with all you heart and love your neighbor as yourself.
On October 12, we began a six-week focus on
those two commands. That's when we first came together for 40 Days of Love.
We are inviting everyone to get in a group, or start
one so
that you can be a part of what will happen in our church these 40 days.
For more information contact Peggy.
We’ve created a blog for the 40 Days of Love. It is
located at http://www.pcc40daysoflove.blogspot.com/ We
would love to hear from you about your
experiences during the study and as a result of the study.
We
encourage you to share with us your stories of what’s happening as a
result of this study. Let’s all share in God’s love and generosity and
encourage one another as we put these principles into practice.

Praise
'n Pies
The
Sunday before Thanksgiving is our annual church family event known as
Praise ‘n Pies. That evening we will gather at 6 PM for a
time of
worship, sharing and of course dessert.
This year, because it
is the end of our 40 Days of Love campaign we will have
special
sharing from groups. There will also be some surprises so you
won’t want to miss the fun. Bring your favorite dessert for the potluck
tab and join us for our special time of thanksgiving.
It
is time for our "deck the halls"
Church Decorating Party
The
Friday after Thanksgiving, November 28, we are gathering at the church
at 1 PM to hang the garland, decorate the Christmas tree and get the
building ready for Christmas. It may feel early to some but
Sunday, November 30th is the 1st Sunday of Advent.
Come at 1:00,
or when you can. We hope to finish at 4, when we will have a
soup
potluck. Bring your family and bring your favorite soup in a
crock pot and let it heat while we decorate.
This is a busy
time of the year, but what fun it will be to work together and then eat
together. Let us know you are planning to come by calling the
church office at (858) 487-7312.

Directory
How many times have you started a project only to come to the
conclusion that you need some expertise that you don’t have
and wondered, “does anyone I know have that kind of
business”? Have you needed a service (plumber, electrician,
realtor, attorney etc.) and no one had a good referral for you so you
had to chance it and call a stranger? Do you have a business that could
use some new paying clients or customers?
For more details on getting your business or experteese
listed click HERE. If you have any
questions, call the church office at

PCC looked high and low for qualified candidates for a new Youth
Director. And now we can tell you. The selection committee,
with the agreement of the Elders and Deacons, have asked Josh Foote
to be the new Youth Director. At
our congregational meeting on September 28 Josh received an
overwhelming majority vote of support concerning this call.
No matter how long it’s been since your loved one
died, grief can make the holidays a painful time. But there’s hope.
Join us for an encouraging seminar that will help you survive the
holidays and discover new reasons to enjoy them again.
The format is a 40 minute video featuring nationally recognized experts
addressing holiday survival, the chance to personalize a Christmas tree
ornament as a keepsake (bring a photo if you choose), a candle light
ceremony commemorating your loved one, and sharing with others who are
walking a similar grief journey during the holidays.
Participants will discover practical answers to
these and other questions:
Is it normal to feel so depressed during the
holidays?
How do I deal with the pain of the holiday season?
Should I accept or decline invitations to holiday
parties?
What should I do if I get emotional at a party or
event?
How can God and others help me this holiday season?
Will I ever enjoy the holidays again?
You’ll also receive a book with 30 daily readings
to help get you through
the holidays. Light refreshments will be served.
A $5 donation is requested to cover the
cost of materials.
Feel free to invite a friend or family member to
attend. So you haven’t lost a loved one, but you know and care for
someone that has—invite them to join you and show your support by
attending with them. It’s a loving thing to do.

Classes are back in session at Abraxas High
School and we are continuing to deliver food
every Monday morning.
As Bible studies reconvene this Fall, please consider appointing one
person in the group as the one to collect for the month. Also
we are looking for people to
shop and deliver the food. While we have always delivered the food in
the morning, it can be delivered any time during the day as long as the
campus is open. The cost of food for one week is approximately $50. Any
one is welcome to contribute. For questions, please contact Beth in the
church office, (858) 487-7312.
